Big Daddy Butter Biscuits cook up show for General Granbury’s birthday

GRANBURY, TEXAS—Big Daddy & the Butter Biscuits are cooking up two special shows during the 31st annual General Granbury’s Birthday Party Festival and Bean, Ribs and Brisket Cook-Off.
The show, “Biscuits & Beans,” will be at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, at Tarleton State University’s Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Educational Center Concert Hall. Tickets are $10.
Royce Cooper (Big Daddy) and Peggy Bott-Kirby and Heatherton Hardy-Wilson (the Butter Biscuits) are veteran Granbury Opera House performers.
The group has performed at conventions, festivals, benefits and theater venues including Bass Hall, creating a large following all over the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Cooper is a pianist, arranger, singer and director. During the years, he has directed and played at hundreds of venues. He has founded and performed with several highly successful and critically acclaimed cabaret acts including Howard and the Fine Sisters and Big Daddy and the Butter Biscuits.
Hardy-Wilson has been a long-time theater professional with her first performance at age 12 in “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” at the Dallas Theater Center. She and Cooper are longtime friends who have performed together in a variety of acts during the years.
Bott-Kirby joined the group two years ago. She has performed as a musical director, vocal coach and at multiple venues in the Fort Worth area. She has taught classes and workshops in creative expression, voice, mime and theater arts.
The Historic Granbury Merchants Association hosts the annual birthday celebration. Other events include a cake cutting ceremony, bean, brisket and ribs cook-off, a bean-eating contest, games and rides for children, a bike and trike parade, a cake walk and family carnival.
